We are very lucky to have an abundance of wildlife on our doorstep, keep an eye out for barn owls, tawny owls, black grouse, curlew, oyster catchers, english partridge, pheasant, lapwings, deer and hares.

The original Old Hay Barn, just outside the village of Lartington, was over 200 years old. The detached 2 bedroomed cottage has been lovingly rebuilt and offers spacious open plan living downstairs, with 2 ensuite bedrooms upstairs, comfortably accommodating up to 5 people. The open-plan ground floor has underfloor heating throughout and comfortable seating.
A modern fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher and adjacent dining area give way to the lounge area with sliding patio doors which lead to a sheltered patio with lovely countryside views. See the ‘Our Property’ tab for further details on the cottage.
Please note that at certain times of the year there will be sheep and lambs in the surrounding fields which are also used to grow hay.
There will be times when farm work will be necessary.

If any error is made on the confirmation against published prices the owners reserve the right to alter and recover any undercharges at any time. Reservations can be made direct via the website, by credit or debit card. If the customer’s arrival date is within 42 days, the full cost of the stay will be due at the time of the booking. If booking more than 42 days in advance, then a deposit of 25% of the total cost will be taken from the card at the time of booking. Then, 42 days prior to the arrival date, the balance will be taken from the customer’s card. Email confirmations will be sent to the customer. Failure to pay the full balance by the due date, due to an invalid credit or debit card transaction may be viewed as the customer cancelling the stay. Under such circumstances, the deposit will not be refunded. If the customer wishes to cancel the booking, they must immediately contact The Old Hay Barn by email. Holidaymakers who cancel at least 42 days before check-in will get back 100% of the amount that they’ve paid. After 42 days, we will attempt to re-let the property and if successful the customer will receive a refund. If this fails no refund is payable.
We are a working sheep farm but we do allow well behaved dogs & pets. Please keep dogs downstairs and off the furniture.
No smoking or vaping inside. If guests smoke outdoors all butt’s must be disposed of safely.
The Old Hay Barn accommodates 4 people on regular beds, plus x1 under 12 on a truckle/pop up bed. No extra people can be accommodated overnight due to our insurance and fire regulations.
You must be at least 21 to book.
Yes, but please bring own towels for beach visits.
Yes, there is a mobile WiFi network due to our rural location. Password and instructions for guests can be found in the guest information folder on arrival.
Yes, however The Old Hay Barn is NOT child-proof with drawer pulls, locks, outlet covers etc.
The nearest pub, which is highly recommended, is The Fox and Hounds in Cotherstone. A 5 minute drive.
We strongly advise guests to take out holiday insurance so you can receive a full refund in the event you are unable to make your reservation at the last minute. Please read our cancellation policy carefully.
